• Can you perform a HPI check on your car for outstanding finance?
• 
  Yes of course. A HPI Check for outstanding finance may be purchased individually or as part of the ‘Full Check’ report from Motorcheck. Remember it’s the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that all finance is clear before purchasing a car.
• Can you check if the mileage on your car has been clocked?
• 
  Yes of course, where readings are available we can check if the mileage on a car has been clocked. One of the reasons Irish buyers rely on Motorcheck over any other car history provider is our unrivaled ability to spot a clocked car but please be aware of the limitations.
• Can you check if the car was ever a ‘Write-off’?
• 
  Motorcheck searches for any record of the vehicle being previously written off in Ireland or the UK, and reports this to you as part of our “full check” or “history check” reports (ie: Category A & B for Ireland and Category A, B, C, D, S, N & F for UK).
• MOT Check: Can I get a car history check for a UK Import?
• 
  MotorCheck provides a full MOT history check for Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI). If you’re checking an Irish vehicle that has been imported from the UK, MotorCheck will find all of its previous registration numbers and include any hidden history that you might otherwise have overlooked in your Irish check absolutely free of charge.”
• When buying a car, can I check if a vehicle was stolen?
• 
  We have access to the UK Police Database for UK Stolen Vehicles.  Unfortunately An Garda Siochana do not share their Stolen Vehicle data with any third parties as yet so in the meantime we are reliant on our own private stolen vehicle register to check if a car has been reported stolen in Ireland and we can only check if it was stolen in Ireland using this database.
• Can you tell me if the car has passed its NCT?
• 
  Yes of course. A Motorcheck history report will tell you if the car has passed its NCT and when it’s due to expire.
• Can you tell if an engine has been replaced?
• 
  Yes, the Motorcheck database contains a record of the original engine number for each vehicle when it was recorded at first registration so you can check has the engine been replaced. Determining whether the current engine is the original one is a simple matter of comparing the two numbers which you can do once you’ve purchased your car check report.
• Do you have Euro-NCAP safety ratings?
• 
  Yes of course. When it comes to choosing your next car it’s very important that you’re fully aware of all the safety implications.
• Can you tell if the car is still covered under warranty?
• 
  Yes of course. Warranty is always an important consideration when purchasing a used vehicle. This is why Motorcheck provides manufacturer warranty information as well as data from private warranty providers (where available) in every one of our history reports.
• Can you check a car's CO2 emissions rating?
• 
  Yes of course. Each Motorcheck report will inform you of the official CO2 Emissions rating for the vehicle.
• Do you track colour changes?
• 
  Yes of course. The Motorcheck database contains a record of the original colour for each vehicle as it was recorded at first registration. You will be able to compare this with the current colour to ensure they match and confirm that the vehicle has not been involved in a major colour changes.
• Does it have valid Road Tax in Ireland?
• 
  Your Motorcheck report will show if the car tax is current in Ireland as well as the expiry date of its existing disc and the expiry dates of previous discs (where available).
• Has the Logbook or NCT been forged?
• 
  The best way to check if a document (EG: Logbook or NCT Cert) has been forged is to check all of the identification numbers in order to authenticate them.The Motorcheck database contains a record of the original chassis (VIN) number for each vehicle as it was recorded at first registration and the NCT certificate number issued by the test centre.
• How do I check the previous owners when buying a used car?
• 
  Thankfully your Motorcheck report will include a full used car history, including the number of previous owners that have been recorded in Ireland and (in the case of an imported car) the UK.
• Can you check if the car has been previously used as a Taxi or Hackney?
• 
  Yes of course. If the vehicle you are checking has been licensed for use as a Taxi or Hackney in Ireland this will be highlighted in your report.
• What about vehicle safety recalls?
• 
  Motorcheck has details on over 4,000 vehicle recalls throughout the European Union. Your Motorcheck report will indicate if the vehicle you are researching has been subject to a notified recall by the manufacturer.
• What is the value of my car?
• 
  All our "Full Check" reports now include a FREE car valuation that tells you the value of the car in Excellent, Fair or Poor condition. Alternatively, you can get the car valuation on its own by simply entering your reg in the menu above, where it says 'Enter reg' and selecting "Valuation" on the proceeding page.
• What is the Free Car Check?
• 
  The free car check provided by Motorcheck.ie consists of a basic identity check of the vehicle so that customers can view the basic details of a vehicle on screen. 
• Can I update my report?
• 
  Yes of course. Every customer who purchases a report from Motorcheck will be provided with a secure account. Customers will be able to login at a later date to view their old reports or update a current reports with certain crucial data.
• Can I view a sample report before purchase?

  Yes, you can view a sample of all our report types before you purchase.
